WILDLIFE FIRST

Welcome to the Sone Preserve

April 14, 2024

The Loop Trail is open daily, holidays included.

April Update: the section of the trail adjacent to Pradera Lane is temporarily closed due to mud, erosion, and other trail issues. The rest of The Loop is still accessible as an out-and-back beginning from the parking lot, up Ryan Ranch Road, and from the upper trailhead.

If you have any questions, you can text us at ‪(707) 234-8277‬.

People and wildlife living together.

Madeleine Sone’s strongest conviction was that it is possible for people and wildlife to find ways to live together. To continue the work she started, she left 24 acres in the trust of The Madeleine Sone Wildlife Preserve upon her death in 2016. The Preserve is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose goal is to fulfill Madeleine’s vision by continuing to provide access to the Loop Trail she created, and to engage in other activities that promote healthy living in harmony with natural surroundings.

Our first project is to restore the Loop Trail, but we have other ideas in the works that we hope will create a place to unite the community around Madeleine’s ideals.
